The Current Reality of Homebuilding in Ontario: Then vs Now

ree

Please join us for an important discussion about residential homebuilding in Ontario in the current economic climate. We are inviting you to an evening of networking with a powerful roster of speakers.

After Code harmonization and the introduction of Bill 17, stakeholders need strategies to navigate local building approvals while maintaining affordability of housing in Ontario. Key to this is understanding how the Ontario Building Code will change in response to future harmonization attempts.

The idea behind the Low Carbon Homebuilder Coalition (LCHC) is to annually benchmark  CO2 emission reductions in Ontario housing on a year-by-year basis. Member builders use this information to inform homeowners and governments about their progress. The 2025 CO2 reductions will be presented at the dinner as well as presenting builder awards. The coalition is working to educate the industry on low cost building strategies to reduce carbon emissions and provide more resilient housing.

Topics will include:

A view from 40,000 feet: National and Provincial Building Codes—Michael  Lio

Update on the housing market, Bill 17 and green building standards—Paul DeBerardis

Plans for an upcoming townhouse development  in a challenging market—Christian Rinomato

Hybrid House and new technologies—John Godden
